Aims to give a history of psychic phenomena through the last two centuries of western thought. I am good friends with Scott Jones (XL Films) who will be filming a doc about this book.

His areas of interest include the comparative erotics of mystical literature, American countercultural translations of Asian religious traditions, and the history of Western esotericism from ancient Gnosticism to the New Age. He is currently working on a two-volume project on The Paranormal and Popular Culture.

From the article:

"Kripal asserts that when handled correctly as signs or living stories, many of the paranormal events that are denied and discarded by today's materialist mindset are, in fact, real, and that society's present dismissals of the universally experienced realities reveal a broad cultural naivet regarding the deeper nature of consciousness and mind."

Ah, marvelous academic twaddle. Presumably, James Randi will not be brought in to act as a consultant.

Probably not, but I think they are trying a more honest angle. There is a routine I have been working on for 20 years involving Dodecahedrons, and the routine also discusses the belief in only two forms of Carbon...but now since a third was discovered, (Carbon 60, taking shape as a Dodecahedron)...the Science of moving molecules have gained interest in all forms of industry. This type of thinking (only two forms of carbon) is what keeps us stale. There are no plans for me to be in the doc...but an uncanny coincidence...Besides who said that magicians should police the psychic community?
