The Turk

Postby Bill Wheeler » March 4th, 2003, 10:50 am

I looked through the archive and I am a little surprised no one else has mentioned this awesome book (by Tom Standage) about the Chess Playing Automaton known as "the Turk." It is a fascinating read; and even mentioned how it was recreated for demonstration at a magic history convention in 1989. A really offbeat and interesting book...

I also enjoyed it.

The book was discussed a while ago in the following thread: ... 070#000000
