Audience Abuse Quote

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

In "The Rising of the Moon", one of the "Mrs Bradley Mysteries" (1999) there occurs this exchange on the subject of audience abuse :

Chauffeur: I've never seen the appeal of circuses meself. Clowns give me the creeps, and the less said about magicians, the better.

Mrs. Bradley: (Diana Rigg)What have you got against magicians?

Chauffeur: Oh, I was once badly scarred by audience participation

Mrs. Bradley: Really? In what way

Chauffeur: I'd rather we didn't go into it, madam

I really hate seeing teenage magicians using insulting humor. It really makes me want to stomp 'em good.

Older magicians who use insulting humor I pop into a box marked 'sad hack'.
