I thought I had...

OK: Gold Lion Head and $5,000 Lee Eun-Gyeol, from Korea (manipulation). Sarmoti Award and $5,000 to Jason Lattimer, who did very clean card manipulations using a single linking ring (not linking routine--he would have empty hand, thrust through ring and cards appeared)... very original handlings.

Other entries were: Keiko Muto, lady from Japan wtih standard fan act, Versini, great Hand Shadows, Derek Salinger hat manipulations good magic combined with a bit of juggling, Lorenzo Clark, standup comedy main gag was a giant vacuum cleaner with hose down sleeve vanishing silks, etc. finale had his "toupee" sucked off. Funny as he shaved his head for this one show.

John Shyrock and Co. good stuff, big closing illusion, but really didn't capture the audience.

Don't have the Junior Winner, but it was a young kid doing an act as a Pirate Ship Captain in great costume original props, etc. produced parrots (you know Pirate with Parrot on his shoulder).

The Teen Challenge was excellent with 10 of 11 acts really top notch. :p
Stay tooned.

The Golden Lion Heads Award was definately earned by Lee Eun-Gyeol. BRAVO! That kid is going places. The SARMOTI award was a bit of a dissapointment. Many cried fowl when it was not awarded to Versini. He was really the only other to really get the audience going. Maybe someone could argue it isn't "magic" or something, but let me tell you, this guy makes magic. I, as well as many others were more than slightly dissapointed by the results.

Versini was, without question, the best shadowgrapher any of us had ever seen: he did people who sang! Very magical, but NOT magic. He should not have been in the contest, but booked as an act. He was by far the best act in the contest, but magicians rightly did not award him the prize because he is not a magician. Period. Did not do a single trick.
I didn't think much of the Korean guy who won. When I think of the caliber of the acts who've won before, this year's lot was way below par. I left before the final two (Lorzeno Clark and John Shyrock).

I had the list of Teen winners and gave it to someone that needed it to put on the IBM web site, but they didn't give it back. Perhaps it could be found there (if posted).
