Michael Grandinetti on "Mark & Brian" Radio Show

FROM LOS ANGELES NEWS:

Illusionist Michael Grandinetti will attempt to predict the outcome and exact score of Superbowl XXXVII when he appears on the nationally syndicated Mark & Brian Radio Show on Monday January 27 at 8:00am.

Throughout the week, Michaels appearance and prediction have been the topic of discussion on the famed morning show with listeners from around the country calling in with their thoughts, questions, and even predictions of their own!

On January 21, Michaels prediction was placed inside a padded envelope which was sealed with notarized stamps on all four sides. The package was then sent via Federal Express to the KLOS studios in Los Angeles. That same morning, Michael was interviewed on the program to discuss his preparations and field any questions from the duo.

When the package arrived at the studio the next day, Mark and Brian further marked the box by sealing it with wax containing impressions of their fingerprints. The box will remain in the care of the KLOS security chief until the day of Michaels appearance.

Once he arrives at the studio on Monday morning, Michael will be thoroughly searched by station security personnel before being escorted into the studio. Under custody of the guards, he will remain away from the package at all times.

Mark & Brian will open the box on the air, remove the seals, and, if everything goes well, reveal that Michael has accurately predicted the EXACT OUTCOME AND SCORE of Superbowl XXXVII.

Mark and Brian are making sure that everything will be very fair. They will be creating laboratory conditions. Michael said. They say that if they even see anything suspicious or suspect any trickery, I will be escorted from the studio immediately, live on the air.

Michael further commented, I dont claim to have any psychic powers or supernatural ability. It is, however, my goal to create an extremely realistic experience for everyone involved.

Grandinetti, 25, is no stranger to challenges. On the NBC special The Worlds Most Dangerous Magic II, he was covered in gasoline and had sixty seconds to escape before two walls of flaming steel spikes were thrust towards him. In addition to performances around the country, Michaels other television appearances include Crook & Chase, Fox & Friends, New York Today, and Entertainment Tonight.

Already two-time winners of Billboard magazine's award for Air Personalities of the Year, Mark Thompson & Brian Phelps are credited with achieving the radio industry's highest honor The National Association of Broadcasters' Marconi Awards for Air Personalities of the Year/Major Market (1991). Additionally, the duo won an Emmy Award for hosting a 1991 Andy Griffith Special and hosted their own NBC television series.

Mark and Brian celebrated their 10th Anniversary on Los Angeles radio by receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame while flanked by celebrities who have appeared on their radio show: John Travolta, Billy Bob Thornton, and Kevin Pollack

They make our day better," Travolta announced. "They give us hope, and they are two of the most decent fellows that I ever have known."

In addition to their Southern California following, Mark & Brian are currently syndicated in 15 cities in the U.S., including Seattle, Sacramento, and Portland.

Michael Grandinettis attempt at predicting the outcome of Superbowl XXXVII on the Mark & Brian radio show was a success!

After keeping the prediction in a locked safe for almost a week, Mark & Brian opened the Federal Express box yesterday, January 27, at 8:00am - live on the air. Sealed inside was Michaels statement:

At my best estimation, The Tampa Bay Buchaneers will win Superbowl XXXVII with a final score approximately 48 to 21

It was definitely a challenging environment, Michael said. Mark and Brian were watching very closely and were very skeptical. And, when youre dealing with a live broadcast and famously unpredictable hosts, it becomes quite a situation. I am happy with the outcome and was thrilled to be able to share this event with their listeners.

Yeah, and I know how impressed I was that Michael, forearmed with the exact knowledge of the final score before the opening kickoff, went and wagered oodles of cash at the legal books in Vegas in advance of the game....knowing full well all the money he'd make.

Show me a mentalist who's willing to do that, and I'll start to believe.

Sorry. Please excuse the rant.

Yeah...and all those illusionists who are armed with "razor-sharp blades" can start doing surgery and making tons of money. Lighten up on the prediction stuff. It provided a LOT of entertainment and promotion, not to mention the publicity. Nobody's asking YOU to believe, as long as the public does.
