Has anyone had the chance to see this new book by Karl Fulves? Or has it even been released yet? H&R has it advertised this month. Looks like it's about as close as I'll get to Hofzinser's Card Conjuring for the time being.

Yes.
This book is worth reading.
I say that with one caveat:
Read it alongside the Sharpe-Fisher translation.
I will be publishing a longer piece on this book, which will appear in my column or more likely on my Website (due to its length).
If interest remains, I'll keep you posted as it develops.
Otherwise, I recommend the Fulves' manuscript.

Re: Hofzinser's Card Tricks
FYI (ICYDNK) The Sharpe-Fischer translation is full of inaccuracies, sometimes attrocities, and lots of arbitrary stuff without warning. I was once asked to translate from the Sharpe into Spanish for Frakson Books (Paginas, by the time the translation appeared). Reinhard Mller had given me his annotations and corrections on the Sharpe translation, and the annotations were almost another book. So I decided to go directly to the Fischer book in German, which took me a lot more work, and I'm glad I did. If you can read Spanish, the Spanish edition (now in its 2nd printing) includes an introductory study by Reinhard.

Is that edition available? I think it must if it's in its second printing. My daughter has her Doctorate in Medievil Spanish Art and I'm sure she could translate it for me.
By the way, anybody out there need a specialist in Spanish Art? Currently she's in El Paso, Texas doing some research.

Re: Hofzinser's Card Tricks
I did not mean to suggest that the Sharpe-Fischer translation is the first or last word or that the translation is without flaws and blunders. In fact, a good translation has not been published. I've corresponded with Reinhard M. on this topic. Others who have been involved, besides R. Benetar, are Richard Kaufman, Richard Hatch, J. Tamariz, Magic Christian...
This being said, it's interesting to note what Fulves interprets of ANOTHER INTERPRETATION...
The "truth" is still out there...

All right, a bold and perhaps esoteric question:
Where can one purchase a reliable edition in the original German?

Re: Hofzinser's Card Tricks
The german original is quite hard to find, but it pops up now and then for around $100 to $200. I initially wanted to make an ebook of the german edition, but Volker Huber owns the copyrights and I have not yet convinced him to let me do it.
