On Carson Daly, did Blaine slow his pulse/ stop his heart before he ripped it out of his chest? This is what I read. Can anyone verify what happened? If this is the case, does anyone have any work on slowing one's pulse?

Although I've never tried it, I seem to remember reading a long time ago that squeezeing a tennis ball under your armpit would aid in slowing down the pulse on that arm?!?! What effect it has on your health... I don't know?
From what I've read of the Blaine stunt, I imagine the 'heart' he pulled from under his shirt was in fact the device used for slowing his pulse in place of a tennis ball.
