Kind of gives new meaning to "shifts", "holdouts", and the like.

How long before one of these ends up on eBay...?

Actaully there is a long standing tradition of putting items to be recognized on playing cards. In WWII, it was planes and ships...ditto WWI. Since we are only fighting one enemy here, people who have committed war crimes and are a potential danger to the welfare of our troops should be recognized.

Max - I think you're looking for something to bitch about - but can't quite form the thought you wanted - Bad Taste?

Bad Taste would be trying to do something trivial with them - Like a card trick - they are issuing these cards with these men's faces on them (they have to be small enough pack and carry hence the "playing card" size)- so the bad guys have a harder time to try and make it into France - Now we can talk about bad taste

If this was just a novelty deck it would certainly be in bad taste. But if it is being used to familarise people with war criminals and as an educational tool then it isn't really a novelty.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes cards are very good in making solders remember faces of wanted people. But I think U.S military showed a very bad taste when the published the information of these packs. Making it novelty and now people are trading them on ebay. Let's not forget that these people will be dead in the following months.

I for one do not want to play with dead people. Let alone do magic tricks.

If we start doing magic tricks with these kinds of cards, what next? Little funny story about vanishing Twin Towers? Little kids in Middle East having U.S politicians in their playing cards, look a Hollow trick? etc. etc.

I think the magic community will be better off if we just ignore these cards and let the military do their jobs while we entertain people.

I agree that doing war-related tricks seems to be in poor taste. Especially now, people want entertainment to take their minds off the war, not keep it on it. An exception might be if you're doing a job for the American Legion, but even then, how would you react if while doing war-topic tricks someone broke down in tears because they lost a family member?

IMHO tricks about the war, 9-11, etc., are right near the bottom of the barrel along with the Bra Trick, No Tickee No Washee, etc.

And, while I personally found the "two faced" pun to be vaguely humorous, we should remember that the community of magic is an international one, and magicians too may read these boards to escape from war news, etc. I know I do.

I just read that the Pentagon issued less then 100 decks so basically the people on ebay making $300+ a deck are just downloading the PDF and having them printed up themselves.
