8/23 My issue arrived today in Lombard, IL (a suburb of Chicago), with the plastic bag torn with holes in it and a big scratch across Martin's smiling bald head on the cover. For some reason, I guess someone from the post office decided to stomp on Martin's face before delivering the issue to me. I don't know what the post office has against Martin... I've seen Matin's lecture and he was very friendly.

Is there a delivery upgrade option for my Genii issues to be shrink wrapped in plastic, covered with bubble wrap, and boxed with a bunch of foam packing peanuts, and mailed in bullet proof kevlar box? I'd gladly pay a few exra bucks for that service.

Living in a foreign country, your idea of an extra packaging is very interesting!!
I'm willing to pay for it!

My copy arrived here in Washington, DC on Saturday, August 24. It was in fine condition, but this has not always been the case. Inasmuch as I have my copies of Genii bound, I generally have to buy replacement issues several times a year. I would be interested in an upgraded mailing package that better protected the magazine.

Received here in Phila on 8/23. No marks or mars. Plastic wrap intact.
I think that I will take my chances with the current packaging. If it comes too mangled, I'll just have to buy another copy. (I'm sure Richard doesn't mind hearing that)

Everybody have a great week.

I recieved mine last week,, I don't remmeber what day BUT....

All this talk about getting issues sometimes in mangled conditions, missing covers, etc...

It must be you guys local post offices that do it,, cuz, I have been subscribing to Genii for 33 years, and not once in all those years have I recieved a mangled or one in less than perfect condition.

Maybe it's cuz that case of beer I give my postman every month!!

Oh wait, I forgot to mention,,, there were those missing issues from the 70's and 90's, and of course those mint condition issues sometimes someone (maybe it was the postman) that erased the date on the cover and put an incorrect date on it, I had always blamed the previous publishers,, but maybe it was my postman. (maybe those months he did not care for the brand of beer I gave him)

TiJean, the subscription upgrade to envelope with cardboard for the entire year would probably match the cost of a single issue, so having to buy the extra issue or paying for the upgrade would be a wash. :)

I received my issue yesterday (8/26). This looks like one I'll enjoy reading cover to cover.

Richard,
Point taken. So, on Friday when I re-up, do I ask for the upgrade in packaging? Or is this not ready to fly yet?

I hadn't had a chance to respond in a few weeks due to my schedule, but I received mine on 8-20.
This was a grand treat to me because I met Martin over a year ago when he lectured here in Nashville. I have to say that one of my deepest regrets is that I don't live closer to this grand master of magic, but our acquaintance has grown by e-mail and phone.
Thank you for such a wonderful insight into someone I've admired for many years.
(By the way, Martin...when are you going to start carrying the "Flesh Gordan" close-up pads on your website?)

Larry, as you know we mail everyone's issue at the same time. :)
Think of it this way: you've received the September issue and it's still August: doesn't that seem cause enough for celebration?

I haven't received the September issue yet. And I only got my August issue by requesting a replacement copy. August was a fantastic issue by the way. Keep up the good work.

Sorry, folks, that the September issue seems to be reaching everyone a little more slowly than usual. Perhaps it's because everyone at the post office is on vacation this month. Or just asleep.

Snatch, hate to see it folded in half, even if Hong Kong is half way around the world. If we offered the mailing upgrade to envelope with cardboard would you be one of those interested?

Dear Mr. Klause,

Believe me when I say that I think you are one of the greats in this game. You are a terrific performer and thinker. I also respect the fact that you are one of the few magicians I've had the pleasure of meeting that understands that "casual attire" does NOT mean "sloppy" (folks, look in the dictionary next to the word "class" and there's a picture of Roger Klause).

But you do know that you have to subscribe first, don't you?

;) :D ;)

Respectfully,
Dustin
