Is Martin Lewis in your mailbox yet?

Postby Richard Kaufman » August 16th, 2002, 6:07 pm

The September issue of Genii was mailed last Monday. Wondering if you have received yours yet and what condition it was in.
We are in the process of creating a subscription upgrade that, for only a few extra dollars, will allow you to receive Genii in a white paper envelope with a piece of cardboard inside to protect it.
Any interest?

(1) Not yet received in Santa Monica, CA
(2) Not interested in special packaging for an extra charge. My copy invariably arrives in fine condition, and I don't collect the issues anyway. Just read 'em, clip and file what I deem the "good stuff" (which admittedly is a lot in some months) and then toss the rest.

I'm not interested in the extra packaging. Either the magazine makes it, or it doesn't.

M.U.M. comes with the piece of cardboard...once the post office managed to lose both the plastic bag and the magazine, but delivered the piece of cardboard, as if it was a giant postcard.

I think it might help my issues. My postman always folds mine in half and stuffs it in my mailbox.

The white envelope and cardboard would be a voluntary upgrade. Those who do nothing will keep exactly the same service they have now. Those who want the extra protection for the magazine will be able to get it for a few extra bucks.

I haven't received my copy yet - unusual, since I almost always get it by the 15th. You've done a wonderful job of getting this magazine out on time - two weeks early, actually - every month for the past two years (at least; I'm sorry but I've lost count). I really don't understand what the extra packaging would give me for the few extra bucks, but if other subscribers are sufficiently impressed to share their experience, I might be willing to try it. Richard, you are to be commended for constantly improving this publication. Keep up the good work!

Pete Biro should opt for this extra care packaging, because by the time his issue arrives, its already a collector's item! :D

When another magazine started to put them into a plastic bag... that's all I got... the plastic bag.

I thing Fedex in that can't tear paper would be the best.

:D
Stay tooned.

Mine arrived in Seattle, WA yesterday, Aug. 19. As usual it was in fine condition, snug within its plastic bag. And the article on Martin Lewis was outstanding. Simply wonderful.

Not yet, but I don't expect mine until sometime around the 22-25th. That's when I usually get it.

The Southside of the Orange Curtain (it helps prevent those Angelinos from unwittingly straying into uncharted territory, where streets that run parallel also intersect) checking in: Martin's smiling face was in my mailbox yesterday.

Ignore my previous post. Martin arrived in my mailbox today. I think he was starting to feel a bit claustrophobic from being stuffed in there.

Vienna, Virginia--received it on Monday, August 19. Don't know what took it so long this time. Usually I get it within three or four days of shipping.

It was in good shape. I love the Martin Lewis piece, and the routine by Roberto Giobbi is one that I hope will soon become a buried and forgotten treasure. It looks very good.

Siloam Springs, Arkansas received the Martin Lewis issue on the 20th. After a quick perusal, I need to get an expensive cigar and enjoy a thorough read.

Kudos to Richard and the rest of the staff.

I received mine yesterday in excellent condition. I'm referring to the content, of course. The magazine itself was rolled up to fit in the mailbox. The Martin Lewis article was terrific.

Got mine in Lexington MA,8/21/02. The entrie upper right corner was bent, but otherwise fine. There was something I was wondering about, these adds by Houdini's magic shop about not doing drugs, they seem a bit random.

My copy arrived in my mailbox (here in Los Angeles) today.

Well, technically it arrived in Pete Biro's mailbox, and I took it from there. Don't worry -- I'll put it back when mine arrives. I don't want to deprive Pete of his Genii, I just want to make sure he doesn't read it before me.

Almost forgot -- I would not pay extra for better shipping. My copy arrives fine every month.

Due to complaints from subscribers that the new issue of Genii arrives at their local magic shop before their copy arrives at home, we are holding the shipment of magic shop copies a few days longer to try and equalize when everyone receives their issues. I know how I would feel, having paid for 1 to 3 years of a magazine in advance, if it showed up at the shop every month before I got my copy.
BUT, the new issue should arrive at magic shops just a few days later than usual.

Wonderful work on this issue. Worth all the annoying calls of "is it there yet?".

Arrived here on the 20th.

Only 1 complaint - the Jon R & Harry Anderson piece was too short. That was the same problem with Harry's book 'Wise Guy'. Long on tricks and short on Harry and his experiences. Would much rather enjoyed reading more about him than his tricks. Just an opinion.

Received my issue here in New Jersey on Wednesday, 8/20.

Would have reported sooner, but Martin was really stuck in the mailbox, couldn't get him out, seemed his legs got stuck on ....

Great issue, the extra packing for the magazine, possibly, but I would have to get more details.
