Card Craft Reprint?
Card Craft Reprint?
I believe I read somewhere on the net that Hartman's "Card Craft" is being reprinted in 2003? i hope it is because I have wanted this book for many years. Anyone heard about this?

Richard, Pardon me for asking.Originally posted by Richard Kaufman:
Card Craft WILL be reprinted this year.
Any ballpark figure as to how much the reprints will cost?

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
I am actually in the process of selling part of my publishing business. I will not be the person reprinting Card Craft.
It will be up to the new publisher to make that choice. The cost of printing Card Craft is equal to the cost of printing Greater Magic, so my guess is that it will cost about $75.

Thanks so much for the "heads up" Richard.Originally posted by Richard Kaufman:

Will the selling of part of your publishing business affect other books you currently have in the pipeline like the Jennings and Sankey books?

The Sankey book will go along in the deal to the new guy: I didn't write it. I have not sold any of the books I've written (and that means I've kept, and will finish, the Jennings books).

Richard - Is it true you have sold your business to Jeff Busby?

Richard --
Is it true you sold Genii magazine to David Regal?
If not, think about it. He already writes half the damn thing anyway.

No ... David wrote a quarter of the April issue for which I am deeply grateful, but I don't think he'd want to own Genii. In fact, after four and a half years of publishing it, I can't imagine that anyone in his or her right mind would want it knowing the work involved. Just spent most of the day writing up a coin routine for the June Magicana.

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
Richard,
Just received my new copy of Copperfield's Project Magic Book. I had one from long ago, it was a pretty grotesque thing, looked like it was mimeographed. I see the new version is worth every penny it cost ($40.00) and has your indelible mark of quality on it. Even though the tricks are basic and mostly public domain, the book itself is a thing of beauty and worthy of being in any magicians library. I appreciate what you do for the magic community.

Worthiness is measured not by how much you chatter, but by how much you help another.
Re: Card Craft Reprint?
What's the difference between Kaufman Publishing and Kaufman & Greenberg Publishing? When a new project came out, did Mr. Greenberg then make a decision whether he wants to be involved? Just curious.

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
The difference is that Alan Greenberg financed the publication of all the books published by Kaufman and Greenberg.
We dissolved our agreement, and thereafter books were published by Kaufman and Company.
Frank--I added some nice touches to those standard tricks. Take a look at the Buddha papers!

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
Card Craft reprint is great news! Richard, do you have any idea as to a date that "Card Craft" will be out? Thanks!
Re: Card Craft Reprint?
Hello,
The above mentioned Card Craft reprint in 2003 seems not to have happened. Has the publishing schedule slipped to 2004? Or have the plans to reprint it been cancelled? :(
Thanks for any info you can share,
David Keith Gonda

I'm reviving this February '03 thread to see if I missed the plans for this book. Was it reprinted then?
Thanks-

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
No, it has never been reprinted. The book is essentially too big and too expensive to reprint in relation to the demand.

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
That's disappointing. I have been hoping for a reprint for some time now. I would have thought (given the going rate for used copies) that it would have been more in demand. Perhaps in time...

Re: Card Craft Reprint?
The price for used copies has been dropping over the past few years.
