I am in LA in a couple of weeks, and usually stay down in Santa Monica/Venice, but quite fancied staying close to the Castle this trip.
The hotel seems reasonable price wise. How is it nowadays?
I remember a while ago hearing it wasn't so good...
Thanks for any advice.

How is the Magic Castle hotel nowadays?
Re: How is the Magic Castle hotel nowadays?
I have not stayed there but friends have and say it has been improved. Hey, it's walking distance to the Castle. They also have apartments.
Stay tooned.

Yeah, I am doing some online research and it seems to have vastly improved. The reviews from travellers on some sites are positively glowing. And yes, walking distance from the Castle is a real benefit!Originally posted by Pete Biro:

I can live there!
:)
Thanks Mr B.

It was a real pit last time I was there, a few years ago. Smelled bad. Almost as bad as the Highland Gardens.
Stay at the Holiday Inn. It's much nicer and just a short walk. Or the Roosevelt Hotel.

Jamy Ian Swiss and I stayed there in November and it was a huge upgrade from the Highland Garden Hotel next door to it (where we spent our first two nights). The suite we were in was technially at the Hollywood Hills Hotel, but run by the Magic Castle hotel, and located just under the Yamashiro Restaurant at the top of the hill. Free shuttle service, unlimited snacks and sodas, good continental style complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea. Free wireless. For Castle performers, there is a special room rate, which was much less than next door at Highland Garden (the latter's claim to fame seems to be that Janis Joplin died there...). I actually look forward to staying there again someday.

I've never stayed in the place Dick is talking about: only the motel directly next to the Castle--is that the same place?

moo man... it is the same owners Glovers, and has been cleaned up and remodeled since you were there. Seabrooke loves it. But what does he know?
Stay tooned.

If it has a bar, Seabrooke will be happy. :)
