A magician friend asked me about a trick that utilizes a dice cup, walnut shell, and dollar bill. (the bill ends up in the shell. He thinks the dice cup is "chopped."
I recognize the thesis, but am drawing a blank on the name and manufactuer.
Any help?
Any for sale?

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
I have not heard of this.
Sounds interesting tho.
I'll be checking back.

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
It is a killer trick, but I forget the details. The walnuts are silent and load under a glass that is bottomless. I think James Riser makes some of the parts.
It was underground for a long time, and I think Dai Vernon had much to do with it.

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
Pete, I believe you're talking about
peripeteptic (sp) walnuts.
I don't think that's what he's talking about but I could be wrong.
That's the effect that Brian O'neill just re-did.
It's available and called Completely Nuts.

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
More on the Trick.
It was in a white box marked $25.00, "The Borrowed Bill in the Walnut," either "Royal Magic"
or CT ?? It had a leather dice cup, a shot glass, the gimmicked walnut that's it; so far!
They saw it at Mel Babcock's house yesterday. Mel didn't want to sell it.
I think I'll contact Mel.

"Totally Nuts"? - see advert on:-

Is the glass truly a shotglass? Bottomless glass needs to be large enough to hold the 3 walnuts.
You would need a cover for the glass to allow the hidden travel of the walnut - perhaps the leather cup is the correct size?
Described in 'Feints and temps of Harry Riser' as 'The Walnuts Trick' referencing 'Vernon Chronicles Vol 2"

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
George,
That would be C&M productions who created the effect that you're looking for. We carried this item when I worked at a magic shop in the early 90's. I wasn't able to find any reference to them other than this link but good luck.

I also found this reference to the Roval Borrowed Bill in Walnut. This box actually looks like what I remember from the shop I worked in but I remember the "C&M Productions" as well because we also carried their Ring Flight.

C&M Productions is based in Tacoma, Washington and is alive and well. Here is the website:

Nice people, great products. Unfortunately, I did not see the trick you're looking for in their current catalog. However, email Scott Markham and I'm sure he'll give you all the help he can. --Asrah

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
Everyone knows that the meaning life, the universe and everything is "42"!
Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
Nonsense, Jon, my good friend! We seem to be in a "Catch 22" here, as the meaning of the universe is not "42", but "69"! Everything goes round and round, ending back where it started eventually.

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
The routine I found in the late 80's early 90's involved a borrowed bill, the serial number is written down by the lender. Bill is crumpled into a ball and a chop routine follows with a dice cup and the borrowed bill. Bill makes final appearance under cup, is unfolded and shown to be a jumbo bill with a walnut wrapped inside. Nut is broken open by spectator, they verify serial number.
Is that the same routine?

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
I believe the routine was called borrowed bill in walnut shell.
It did come in a white box, came with a chop dice cup, jumbo bill and hot bill, plus very full instructions.

Re: Dice Cup/Walnut Shell
I just bought one last weekendat the Abbott's It's Roval's BORROWED BILL IN WALNUT.
It came with: gimmicked leather dice cup, set of dice, shot glass, 2 oversized bills, one very realistic gimmicked regular sized bill.
Effect: A bill is borrowed and the serial number is writted on magicians card. The bill is rolled into a ball and used in chop cup routine. The bill ultimately vanishes, only to be found in a walnut rolled within a jumbo bill produced as the final load. The serial number is verified as the borrowed bill.

Yes, that's the one. I sold one last year. No longer made.
I believe, anyway.
