May I ask you all for your favourite

Cards/ non cards welcome.

Over to you.

Peace.

Darren,

David Parr's "A Game of Life and Death" is superb, and is great for this time of year. Also check out Robert Neale's "Last Dream" from "The Magic Mirror" or on volume three of Eugene Burger's "Magical Voyages" DVDs. Spirit message effects also work well on Halloween.

I did a set at Magic Monday (in Seattle) last week, based on my routine Billy The Vampire Slayer from Tubthumping.

Eight Card Brainwave to nominate a card as the vampire
Card Warp to demonstrate how vampires operate
Torn and Restored using the script from Tubthumping.

Of course the day before the show it occurred to me that I should have ordered the prop for Michael Closes Down For The Count as it would have been the perfect ending.

This is not an existing effect, but it is an idea I had tonight while out at a party. If you've ever seen Danny Cole's opening effect, then you'll already know exactly what I'm talking about.

If you haven't:

Imagine you're at a party, and you're wearing a relatively simple costume. At any point during a conversation, you mention you were torn between two different costumes to wear. You bring out a window blind, step on the bottom, and pull it all the way up past your head, revealing an image of you in another costume. A few moments later, you let the blind fly up, revealing you now in the costume in the picture.

So yeah, that's Danny Cole's effect. Imagine being able to do it back and forth between two different costumes. Feasible? I think so.

Carry a window-blind to a party and drag it around all night? I think not. It would be easier to do an actual quick change reversable costume illusion, and with the new inflatable costumes available, you could literally come bursting out of one to reveal the other.

However, the head off the shoulders is quite enough for this season's parties. Any party invitations? I promise not to drop my head into the punch bowl.

Eugene Burger has a nice card effect involving Count Dracula and some sorority sisters. Appropriate for Halloween, I think. :)

All the best,
