Your Favorite Stand up/Stage effect?
Re: Your Favorite Stand up/Stage effect?
Hi,
I work at two schools that I have done several shows at. The one platform trick that I have done "forever" that has gotten the most positive comments is that old "chestnut", the Al Baker Diminishing Cards.
Have a good one,
Bob Phillips

I've always loved the Magic Coloring Book, since I was little.
Then again, I've always _wished_ I could do David Copperfield's "Laser" self-sawing-in-half, but that's a little over my budget.

I've been doing Gene Anderson's Torn and Restored Newspaper off and on since the seventies. It's one of my all time favorite stand up/platform effects.

Duke's Dye Version is so adaptable to different patter lines and the incorporation of a final message that it has to be at the top of my list for a platform effect. I have literally worn out at least one big streamer doing the effect over the years.

If you got the gift of gab...What's Next has it all. I know...I know...(you mean that Tenyo metal trick with spots), but I'm telling you it's one of those effects that seems to work for every age and demographic. You fool them, you teach them and you fool them even worse. Great trick.
The Version I saw Goldfinger and Dove use recently just blew me away!

The "magic" portion of my large show usually has me performing Sterling's "Long Short Rope Trick", with lots of gags thrown in too.

Zens Cards Across, Daryl's Rope Routine and I've just finished working out a handling for Billy McComb's Half Dyed Hank. I did the latter a few years ago but was never happy with the handling "for me". I'll be using it in a gig in a couple of days so I'll know better then but in rehearsal I'm more comfortable with my new handling and presentation.

Re: Your Favorite Stand up/Stage effect?
Could someone describe Apples and Oranges (Steinmeyer), Black Confetti, by Jim Steinmeyer, and Duke's Dye Version? I have led a sheltered life in close-up.
Many thanks,

Re: Your Favorite Stand up/Stage effect?
Apples and Oranges was published in MAGIC. It's a stage adaptation of the Piano Card trick, and it plays remarkably well.
Black Confetti is in "Device and Illusion" and is a transposition of black and white confetti.
It's hard to appreciate how good Jim's stuff is without trying it. He knows just how to emphasize the key staging points so the effect is really strong.

I feel that I must mention Obie O'brians
"Kolossal Kolored Kards"
Develop a smooth presentation add a bit of patter
