Cellini version of gypsy Thread - material used?

On Cellini's DVD <<MAGIC THAT CAN BE PERFORMED ANYWHERE>> there is a variation on Gypsy Thread that makes it more of a visible item for Street or Stage.
Did he by any chance tip the brand or type of wool/yarn/thread he used on the dvd?
It's only when you enter a haberdashery and are confronted by walls of wool, that you realise that it's not going to be feasible to try breaking a length of all the various types to find what you need...
Seemed to be a wool or yarn which was "bobbley" and very easy to tear...

Any tips?

I don't remember what kind Cellini uses however I do believe Billy McComb reccomends a virgin wool yarn that is used to knit baby blankets.

what about the fluffy loose twist yarn that is used to make mohair jumpers.

I accidently found this same thread in my bedroom.

It was used to make "fringe" on a blanket.

So, I'm thinking it's readily available at Jo-Anne's Fabrics or some such thing.

I'll run over there at lunch and see what I find.

Lion Brand Yarn has a product called Polarspun Yarn. This breaks easily and can be seen from stage.

Orlando Bagley, an old timer in the LA Area, was doing the Gypsy or Hindu Thread with yarn in the 1940s and 50s well before Cellini or McComb. He was an early influence of mine, a friend of Charlie Miller, and one of the few people to ever do a legitimate Downs Coin Star with skill alone.

Orlando, like me years later, used Sweet Heart mending yarn. Wonderful stuff and extremely visible.

Kevin is right on with the McComb reference. Mr. McComb also suggests using yellow yarn as it shows up much better from the stage. On the DVD I believe Jim uses yellow yarn as well. This type of yarn works perfect for the trick and I have used it on the street.

I was looking for a particular Make or Brand, cos in the UK "Chadwick's" mending thread is the gold standard for Gypsy thread and I assumed that there was a definitive material for jim Cellini's version.
