Gallo Pitch

Postby El Mystico » February 28th, 2005, 1:02 am

This was taught in Richard Almanac, Ammar's Encore 3, and The Underground Man.
Since then, the move has gone quiet....are people using it? Or is it something that only looked good in Gallo's hands?

It's like discussing the Han Ping Chien coin sleight after CoinMagic or a double card turnover after 1992.. or tying your shoe after the age of six or so.

Sure there are some touches and nobody expects that there will be no progress... it just seems to work as written. Not many things get taken into the basics of coinmagic in just one generation. Thanks Lou, and Mike too, and also Richard for doing such a great job of writing and illustriating the thing so we could learn it.

I use it.

It is also more recently published in Paul Cummins' video (1999) or DVD (2004) "Up In Smoke"

Use it? Hell yeah! In fact I was using it half an hour ago I even do it with dice.

The Gallo Pitch is as fundamental to coin magic as the Classic Palm and Geoff Latta's handling of HPC.

Thanks everyone who responded. That's very helpful.
Curious then that it doesn't seem to be featured on the Roth or Ammar DVDs on coin magic!

Well it IS in one of Ammars old video tapes originally filmed by Hans Zahn/Videonics.
*World class close-up* Videonics release 62.

I am not sure, but L&L has transfered a lot of the Videonics material to DVD and the above release might (?) be one of them.

Almost forgot to mention, that *The Gallo Pitch* is VERY well tought, explained and demonstarted in the above mentioned video!

Hi everyone,

Regarding the "Gallo Pitch", Lou Gallo himself says that the so-called Gallo Pith demonstrated and taught by his friend Paul Cummins in the Up in Smoke video should be called the Cummins' pitch. The thing is, Gall does not recognize his move... Although it is quite similar to his, certain subtleties and intentions are quite different, making it a different move.
Of course, these differences are very thin... The HPC, the Gallo pitch or the "Cummins' pitch", are all based on the same principle; only the handling varies to better suit the performer's style. But if you look carefully, you'll see that the slight differences in handling is actually sufficient to call them "different moves".

Cheers,

FM
