Performing Ernest Earick Material

Postby Matthew Field » September 10th, 2006, 9:20 am

There's a kid on YouTube performing most of the effects from the very difficult 'By Forces Unseen' by Ernest Earick.

It's worth watching if you're seriously into cards.

I'm having a hard time wiping the big grin off my face. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Charles Hsu's almost "balletic" performances of Earnest Earick's material.

It brought me great joy to see such an excellent example of how mastery of technique can be directly tied to simplicity of effect. The gentle grace Hsu demonstrated belies the hours and hours of effort, transcends the technique and paints a simple picture communicating Earick's art.

Bravo!

Charles Hsu originally posted a notice of these videos on The Magic Cafe, and said that he had ommitted some tricks, mostly because of uplink size limits on YouTube.

Three additonal Earick effects from the book are here:

1.) One Shuffle - One Winner : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z665Fnyh0E
2.) House Guest : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lh7h1Dku0xI

Wow...definately not the "give me a dvd so I can be David Blaine" type. Great work...

In the immortal words of the great Joey Lawrence, "Whoa."
I like the way it was filmed as well. No mindless patter, no confusing exposition. Just tricks and moves. Straightforward, I like it.
Now if you'll excuse me, for some reason I have the urge to practice a bit more.
