Jeff,
There is a pamphlet that came out a number of years ago on making your own double face / double back cards and it came with samples of cards that were partially split, one thing I did learn is that when you start to split the card you hold the thin piece flat on the surface and pull up on the thick piece, seems wrong but that is the only way I could split them, I believe the booklet was called " Making your own trick cards " and I do have it but my "magic" room looks like everyone else's so have no room to walk to my bookshelf's but if I do find it I will inform you of who wrote it .

Been searching for this one myself. Does anyone know where to get it, or how to contact the author?

Terry Lunceford also wrote a small pamphlet on this subject.

Ok guys,
Went digging through by books and found it, it is called, "How to make your own Trick Cards" by D.Grenewetzki copyright 1980 and available from:
J&D Enterprises
23145 Bigler St.
Woodland Hills, Ca. 91364
I do not know if they still have it or not but this is all the help I can give good luck.

Re: Splitting a Card
After 35 years of messing with splitting cards, I recently discovered a very easy perfect method. It is not as fast as an expert card splitter, but most of us are not that expert.
I SAND off the card until it is half its normal thickness.Use a 3M Sanding Sponge and keep the wrapper on the sponge to help with rigidity. Use the edge of the Sanding Sponge with the card on a flat board. Hold the card down with your fingertips and sand 1/2 at a time. When you sand off all of the printing down to pure white, it is thin enough. Then glue two of these together with a Glue Stick and put the result between wax paper in a heavy book overnight.
This works perfectly every time, unlike my card splitting, where I usually tear up several cards before I get a good one....Glenn Godsey

Re: Splitting a Card
I learned splitting cards after watching the video: One Card Link by Sexten Bemes. It's so easy that you can do it in less than 2 minutes.

Re: Splitting a Card
If you are using Bicycles, they'll split naturally if you soak them in water for 20 minutes. You then have the hassle of drying them flat - but hey they split easily.

I am surprised to see no one has mentioned Don England's video on the subject.

Re: Splitting a Card
Thanks for all the replies... Man, is this tough!! I had an easier time getting the pass down than I am splitting a stupid card!
I've spent so much time tapping a card against my desk it looks like I'm preparring illegal/recreational substances.
I'll keep trying... :(

I also went to Ben's website for his tutorial, have a lovely set of Bicycle cards for Martin Lewis' Magician's Poker. (Buy them from Martin first, or get the lecture notes)
