"New" Bicycle League Backs

Postby Guest » August 29th, 2005, 1:03 pm

Has anyone else tried the recently issued League Backs.

I "think" they feel better than standard issue Bkes, but that may be the result of a higher price and the newness of the design. After using them for a while, they seem to be holding up quite well.

Thoughts?

Where did you find them?

I picked them up from a local magic dealer. I'm rather sure he got them from Murphy's.

You should be able to find them from most of the bigger name magic shops. I know you can get them from www.williamsmagic.com and as far as I know they are only available through Magic Wholesalers, US Playing Card Company is not offering them to regular customers.

How are they different from the old league backs?

Some game shops also carry the league backs in a two pack set.

But don't these have different fronts? (Extra indices, etc.)

I purchased a two pack of League Back SPADES cards. In the box were two boxes of League backs, one red and one blue, and a set of instructions. There are indeed additional indices on the spades cards - the spades are at all four corners, the others are the same. They seem about the same to me, but I guessed at the time that there seemed to be a bit better Quality Control. (Centering was better, etc.)

Here's what the Bicycle Spades packages and cards look like. I've found them in local drug stores.

All of these special Decks, Spades, Canasta, etc have nice backs but there is some sort of alteration to the front of some or all of the cards. They also come in a box that says "SPADES" or "CANASTA", nice if you are using just a few cards but you couldn't use them in a full deck routine where you are trying to pass them off as bikes, etc. (Maybe for a color changind deck routing) The League Back originally asked about are regular bicycle faces with the older style back. See the deck here: http://www.williamsmagic.com/index.php? ... s_id=16344
They come in Red or Blue.
