This week on Cogitations-- The Second Deal

Postby Guest » February 25th, 2005, 3:16 pm

This weekend, Cogitations will be updated with a
clip of one of the best Second Deals I've ever seen,
by someone I've known for over 15 years-- Andru Luvisi.

I've seen Ortiz, Maze, Plants, and many other
experts deal seconds and bottoms and in my opinion
Andru can hold his own with all of those experts.

Andru's been one of those reclusive guys who tends not
to publish any of his own ideas or work, but I knew him
when he was 14 years of age and he could deal acceptable
seconds and bottoms THEN!

The article will include clips of Andru dealing seconds
(the BEST face-up seconds I've ever seen in my life!)
and a written piece in which he will explain what he
considers to be the most important aspects of the Second
Deal.

Anybody ever seen Richard Turner deal? Pretty amazing. Even moreso because he is nearly totally blind.

Richard Turner's second deal is as visually deceptive as it gets IMHO.

But everybody has an opinion ....some have more than others. But you know what they say about opinions!

That is true, Mr. Plants-- but if you're going to
say one is better than the other-- shouldn't you
actually SEE both of them?

I agree that Richard Turners second deal is amazing but it is not a strike second. Mr Luvisi's strike second is incredible. Both styles of dealing seconds have there place in card magic and both need to be seen to be appeciated.

This reminds me of a letter that I received from Eddie Marlo in response to one that I had written to him.

I mentioned to him years ago, that he should see the new second deal that I came up with.

His reply was "I would love to not be able to see it".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Best to you all.

For those of you who enjoyed Mr. Luvisi's excellent work on the second deal, another article has been posted. This one deals with the bottom deal and reducing "finger flash", a well known "tell".

I thought his second deal looked very nice, but the bottom deal seen here (in my opinion) looks even better.

Does anyone out there use the elliot bottom deal from vernons ultimate card secrets?
I think for magical applications this is an excellent strike bottom deal that is not too difficult to aquire.

My late freind kevin reay showed me this deal and like all of his work was most deceptive.

I probably had to wait 24 hours, and then was contacted with an email giving me my login name and password.

Hope this helps

I have an old retired crossroader friend living in Las Vegas. I don't know if his dueces are better than the aforementioned folks, but what he DOES with it is what is amazing.

Imagine "sorts" from decks with a different (R/S) feel and the ability to deal in a casino situation. I've seen him run up a cooler and deal crooked at places like the Sahara!

Tomsoni, Forti and a few others know him well too.
Stay tooned.

Andru's bottom deal on Cogitations is marvellous in my opinion. His bottoms are almost identical to his tops. This has to be one of the most deceptive bottom deals I have ever seen. I would liked to have seen his technique applied to dealing out bottoms to other players rather than just dealt onto a pile, but you can't have everything. Highly recommended.

Paul H
