Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
After studying Tom's work on this classic plot, I was duly impressed (as usual). Tom not only thinks up this stuff, he writes, edits, and illustrates everything himself. This triple-threat creator inhabits a parallel universe where he rules with an unfettered imagination and great, creative mischief.
His material, if it had been created twenty years ago, would never have been tipped, but shared by only a few privileged undergrounders.
Highly recommended.

The Warpsmiths are alien creatures in one of Alan Moore's comics. I liked the name a lot, and since I'm feeling a bit alien at times, like I'm from a "parallel universe" (Thanks Jon), I made use of that name.
I mainly make use of that name in connetion to pieces where I've woven and forged together existing ideas into a new shape.
I just found the "Latest news" page on Peter Duffies site . I'm blushing now :)

Tom,
Thanks for the explanation. Now I'm even more curious about the reference.
Best,
Raj

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
Allow me to add my comments about my friend Tom Stone. This very creative magician from Sweden has a new e-book Tracking Mr. Fogg which deals with Toms developmental work with Larry Jennings classic Ambidextrous Travelers.
The manuscript has two of Toms routines and they are very well written and illustrated. Dai Vernons original Travelers routine from Stars of Magic: is the production of four signed cards from four of the magicians pockets. The Ambidextrous approach allows for an instant repeat. Tom tried to deal with the heat on the vanishing of the cards the first time around, and his approaches are ingenious.
True to Toms nature, he has priced the manuscript (an Adobe Acrobat download) at $15 if you plan to perform the effect, $20 if you just want to read it. It is an excellent read, and if youre like me, you just might want to perform it.

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
I purchased Tom's first Warpsmith manuscript because I was constructing a stand-up coin routine and it sounded too good to pass up. It was.
Tom's concept with these manuscripts is to take you on the journey with him as he creates his finished routine. All the inspirations, dead ends, happy coincidences, everything is included - so you get to kind of sit inside Tom's head as he works out the final effect. It is a rare opportunity to share someone else's creative path with them - and learn how to better set out on your own creative path.
If you want an example of how to 'think better', sign up now before you miss out. Just MHO, --Mitch

I picked up Tom's first manuscript in this series as soon as it came out -- excellent stuff! I'll be ordering this one soon.

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
I picked up the manuscript about a week ago, and can firmly state it is worth every penny and then some. Ive been playing with the Ambidextrous Travelers plot seriously for about six months now, trying to find my own solutions to the problems Tom Stone eloquently brings up. Tracking Mr. Fogg is not only a great read, but has given me several wonderful new approaches to this effect.
Now I get to look forward to tracking my own Mr. Fogg.
I know hes out there.

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
All I can say about this little manuscript is that I bought it, I downloaded it, I printed it up, I read it three times last night and again today.
It's one of the best things I've read in magic in a long time.
Period.

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
Look forward to picking this up in a week or two, but thought I'd mention a few other Travellers routines for those who enjoy sticking cards in their pockets.
Scott Guinn has published four separate methods, and they can all be found on the Online Visions website.
Cheers,
Sean Piper.

Unfortunately, by then it will be unavailable. I'll stop selling it tomorrow evening.Originally posted by Sean Piper:

John:
As Tom mentioned a while back, this is now "out of print".

Re: Tracking Mr. Fogg
All is not lost. Fogg and the other manuscripts were works aimed toward a larger collection of Tom Stone material that will be published by Stephen Minch.
