Gaeton Bloom

Postby Guest » November 26th, 2004, 8:09 am

Years ago, Gaeton marketed a gaffed 3 card monte that was unlike any other previous version and to this day Ive not seen anything similar. Memory escapes as to what he called it. The reason I bring it up is because I found my set of cards for this trick while going thru the magic drawers but cannot find his instructions that go with it. Can anyone out there help?

I think it was called "Visible Monte". The basic move is not too hard to work out if you have the cards. I'll have a look at home tonight.

The idea for this sort of gaff goes back to Charles Jordon in the 1920s or 30s. Jordon used a cigarette paper glued in a Z between two cards. The Bloom "card" uses a piece of mylar which improves the idea tremendously because the gimmicked pair will snap back into alignment by themselves due to the mylar.
Bob Farmer had many interesting routines with the gimmick, though I don't recall if any were published.

The effect is currently marketed through Kevin James, and is listed on his site, www.kjmagic.com
