Blink Shift Video from France

Postby Guest » May 30th, 2006, 10:23 am

Hi all,

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of watching a short video of a young magician from France doing my one handed shift.

It was sureal in looking at it being done by some one other than myself!

In all my years doing magic, I have never seen any one doing the move.

It was a pleasure in watching him doing it.

Congratulations!

Just for the sake of clarity, Toms Blink Shift was described in the March, 2006 issue of Genii as a one-handed method for secretly negating a cut. In the video-link Tom has posted above, the magician performs the shift to bring a face-up card back to the top of the deck, rendering it more of a visible change (which Tom himself executes beautifully using a face-up deck).

Tom's shift is also an excellent method for going into a half pass also.

Hi,

I didn't know that I was the first one that Tom saw in video doing his move. So I was very proud when I have learnt this. It's a pleasure to perform a move created by a technician like Tom.

Thank you for your work Tom.

FleGz: On another one of the videos, you do what looks to be a classic pass followed quickly by 2 or 3 diminishing cuts, ending with just the top card.

Is this the Backstage Pass that you reference at the end of the video, or something else?

David, This pass isnt really the Backstage pass, it's a variation that I do. In fact it's a mix between the "Backstage" and "Dribble pass".
