The Blink Shift

Hello all,

I have been getting numerous emails (123 so far) requesting a video demo and help in learning my shift.

The following information will aid you in learning the move.

David did an excellent job in trying to explain this move on paper.

Having said that, there is a serious error that needs to be corrected now to help all that want to master this move.

David states "With your right hand pick up the bottom portion from above in Biddle Grip".

This wrong...

Pick up it up in Straddle Grip immediately..

Do not try for speed at first. Learn to move slowly. Speed comes later.

You will be teaching you fingers and thumb to do what they where not used to.

Soreness at first and then Viola, you have begun to master it.

I have asked for help in getting my original magic out for all to learn.

We shall see what comes ..

Got it. So rather than picking up the packet in Biddle Grip as in figure 1, then pushing it up into deep Straddle Grip as in figures 2, 3 and 4, you skip figure 1 entirely, grasp it on the table as in figure 2, then push it up into deep straddle grip as in figures 3 and 4 while lifting it?

That is correct David.

I am going into more detail on an upcoming dvd on it and how to use it as a table shift.

Also 3-way cuts with it, etc.

I'd like to add that, when Tom performs this shift, it really does look invisible (if something can "look" invisible...), unlike many shifts wherein the spectator must literally blink during the execution to avoid seeing a flash.

I do not remember if I told you David that when we have a dvd ready to release, the shift will come with a bonus on how to use it in 2 different grips for a table shift.
Also used as a color change.
Also used as 3 different 3-way cuts.

I recently got the opportunity to see the Blink Shift done by Tom in person at his home in Burlington. All I can say is "WOW" Tom excuted this move probably 5 times for me and I never saw what was taking place. When he slowed t down for me, and showed me the mechanics, I couldnt believe the simplicity and the cleverness of the sleight. Very nice Tom!

I just found my notes on the 4 ace cutting routine that uses my table shift to locate them.
