Al Schneider-Coins Across

Postby Steve Vaught » December 6th, 2005, 12:50 pm

I have been currently working on Al's coins across. I like the pop-up move taught in his book. When you get toward the end there is a "hpc" move.

Here is my question:

It seems like I have read just recently somewhere that Mr. Schneider has a new way of getting around this point of the routine where he uses the "hpc" move. I have read this somewhere and I thought it was in the Genii magazine. I can't seem to find where I have read this, but I do know that it was by Mr. Schneider and he was talking about this being an improvement on the routine. I searched and searched last night through the magazines to find this article and can't. Has anyone seen this article or is this a result of those afternoon naps????

I believe that this is Al Schneider's site now.

This move was in Genii some time ago.
I put it there to label it as mine.
(spit on it if you will)
I do not remember the issue however.
I think I called it coins across move #56 or something like that. I can't help but trying to be cute.
Since then I have created a CD pdf book I am selling on www.worldmagiccenter.com. It presents this move.

The move initially used a shell. I thought it was the ultimate. However, as the book evolved, the concept generated more ideas. Thus, the book contains that first routine with a shell, then one with no gimmick (the one I use most often), a routine without pop-ups, and a couple of other ideas. The first idea however, is as perfect a coins across routine as can be. I plan to put a video of it on the web site. I am doing a lot of work on it right now. It is really complicated. However, I am presently testing my ability to put fast clear videos on the site. I have six there right now. You might want to check them out. If you could, tell me what you think of the new technology.

It's depressing.

Because it proves to me that several sleights from Al Schneider on Coins, sleights which I thought that I performed well, don't look nearly as magical as they do in your hands.

I shall have to keep practising.

Ya got me.
This is a problem to put something out.
Then, it gets better.
Should I stop working on stuff?

So here is a warning.
The Pop Up move in Al Schneider On Coins has changed. I had trouble doing it the way it is described in that book. I changed it. The coin now goes in the other direction when I execute the move. And now it doesn't relly pop up. How depressing. Now the coin is actually uncovered. This is explained in detail (I hope) in the pdf Al Schneider Coins Across.

Al, keep working on it, and put out the new versions in PDFs and video clips. I remember meeting you at a magic convention in Vegas years ago, and the moves looked good then, so I can imagine your improvements add more.

Thank you Joe, that was exactly what I needed. Al, thank you as well for writing. I have had "A.S. On Coins" for sometime now, but when I saw you perform on a DVD I just recently received through the Genii subscription, I was so impressed with the clearness and openess of the routine. I wanted to learn it!!
