Master of Illusion for Nintendo

Postby Jeff Eline » January 22nd, 2008, 4:40 pm

Great article on the new game for the Nintendo DS Master of Illusion. I bought this for my son and it really is pretty cool. He loves doing the talking face trick. The tricks are, for the most part, not cheesy.

I didn't mind the feature where you had to wait a day to see the next tricks because it forced my son to practice. Otherwise he would have blown through the tricks in a few minutes.

I LOVE this game.
The tricks are all wonderful and using the Nintendo DS adds something really fascinating to it.
as an added bonus, it was the only reason my wife allowed to to get a DS for Christmas.

Yeah, it really is very cool. If had a better memory and was able to think more quickly while performing, some of the more complex effects might have been fun. As it is, with my brain barely functioning, cueing the chosen card to the talking face was about as sophisticated as I could get.

I found this game to be a great deal of fun too.

In fact, I recently performed one of the "Shuffle Games" effects at a show and actually managed to get a shriek from my volunteer when I did the revelation.

For magicians impatient to move to a higher level, I suggest doing the "Enigmatic Egg" in
the magic show ... it seems to be the quickest
thing to perform :)

I enjoyed playing the game, and found many of
the effects interesting enough to try performing
with other people. I wish Tenyo had thought through the performance issue and improved the
software in that area. (E.g., I'd like to avoid
choosing "training" vs. "performance" at the end
of an effect, the repeatability should be easier,
there should be a way to setup a routine,
and a few of the effects should tell the
magician what the audience participant chose afterward ... to prevent them from lying :)

Overall, recommended.
