What I especially like about this version is that no suspicious gap needs to be present when the pieces are rearranged.

I like the chocolate bar version as well. Actually, I like every version I have ever seen!

The basic puzzle was created by Winston Freer. It requires opaque pieces that are hollow so additional pieces can be hidden inside. Tenyo's new version by Komichi Komiya works very differently: the puzzle pieces are transparent. It's a huge innovation on the original.

I don't believe the freer puzzle requires pieces to be hidden inside - at least not the version I have. Pierre Mayer made one using a different method than the Freer.

Here's a link to John Rogers' version of the Freer puzzle.

The late Karl Norman used to sell a wooden version. Neither involves hollow or hidden pieces.

There are two approaches to the effect; one requires overlapping, and the other involves removing a piece surreptitiously, either by hiding in a hollow piece, or palming out during the shuffle.

Sorry, Richard. Your information is confused.

Geometric vanishes long predate Winston Freer. That said, his version introduced the defining frame, and also the beveled edges.

Ditching a piece via a larger hollow piece is a much more recent idea. It is featured in the wooden version made by Pierre Mayer, but was devised by someone else.

Yes, Max, I am often confused. I am well aware that Geometric Vanishes long predate Freer due to Tom Ransom's help on the DeLand book.

Fortunately, Tenyo's version relies on NONE of the known methods.

Question for those who have / use the item:

How do you put the setup away after you added the two new items and displayed in the frame?

thanks in advance,

Does the gaffed frame stand up to any scrutiny should anyone pick it up to examine it?

not always wearing my running shoes - and this is about how to pack the thing up before you put it in your pocket. Implicitly also the reset but you get the idea.

suggestions from folks who carry the thing around?

Everything fits inside of the cardboard box used with the trick. That box won't fit into most pockets safely unless you are Captain Kangaroo. :D

Chris, people want to examine the pieces and don't seem to be interested in the frame. (But, no, it does not lock.)

If you wear a sports coat, I believe it will fit in your side pocket.
