I really enjoyed reading Devid Regal's article and interview on Bruce Cervon. I especially loved the reading the actual reprints of a few of the famed "Castle Notes." What a talent Cervon is and plenty of hutzpa to boot.
How about reprinting Cervon's Castle Notes verbatim like the Lost Notebooks of John Northern Hilliard?
Also, I was fascinated by Cervon's comments on Jay Ose. Will there ever be a cover story on Ose and a few of his select effects?
Keep up the great work! :)

Also enjoyed the interview. Much too short though.
Pete even got a mention in the article. Very complementary.

Much agreed with Terry!! It is great to see Cervon and Jim Patton in the pages of Genii once again. I hear there's a series in the works for this along with photos by Sir Pete Biro!!! I started reading it last night and couldn't put it down. Kudos to the authors and to Genii.

Hi Pete: Just been workin' hard for the Mercedes-Benz dealership.
You have to come to Martinez soon to see Gerry Griffen's new magic theatre and cafe. Some killer performances recently by Steven Youell, Rafael Benatar, John Carney, Martin Lewis, Dana Daniels, Jeff Ezell and many others.
Gerry has done a great job putting this venue together.
Hope to see you soon. At the next WMS perhaps? :)

I had lessons from Jay Ose, upstairs in the Castle before it was open. He was a wonderful person.

Newcomers to card magic may be interested
to know that cardician Jay Ose is
listed in the credits of "The Flim
Flam Man," a 1967 motion picture
starring George C. Scott. A one-handed
riffle shuffle of an entire deck is
shown in that film.--Chris Roth

Re: Bruce Cervon & Jay Ose
There was a cover story on the then-living/performing Jay Ose, over 30 years ago. Certainly he deserves another look...indeed a wonderful person, as well as performer, much of the foundation of the early success of The Magic Castle, was built on the appeal and charm of that man.
I can remember him on episodes of "Truth or Consequences", hosted by Bob Barker...Milt Larsen was a writer on the show then, I believe.

Re: Bruce Cervon & Jay Ose
This is a quedton about Jay Ose . I was telling a
girl friend of mine who lived in L.A. for twenty
years about the Magic Castle . I mentioned Dai
Vernon and Jay Ose and she asked me to spell it.
She askes me to repeat and I said j-o-s-e . She
said that spells Jose ( ho-say ) My question is
was he Hispanic, was that a stage name or just
a fluke?........Mike Walsh..... :help:

Just a fluke, as far as I know. Ose is a regular Anglo name, there's a Congressman Doug Ose in California.Originally posted by Mike Walsh II:

Jay Ose was born in Michigan in 1911, which makes the Hispanic theory unlikely.
When Whit Haydn's Notes On Three Card Monte came out, it had a bibliography and filmography of movies featuring three card monte, and I made a point of renting some of them.
Ose was also in Waterhole #3 with James Coburn.

Opie! Great link to "The Flim-Flam Man" cast! A great movie I haven't seen in years (too long for this big George C. Scott fan).
Hope it comes to DVD soon.

Patton is one of my all time favorite movies and G.C. Scott is the reason.

Scott's version of "A Christmas Carol" is the best.
