Comments about a feature article that was published back in April 1997 of "Genii" hardly fit into this category, but who of us strictly adhere to these forum headings anyway?
In my opinion, Max Maven's feature article, a history of FISM, was one of the best articles ever published in "Genii" during the pre-Kaufman era. I don't know if Richard has any copies of the April 1997 issue available, but if you're interested in this aspect of magic history you'll be delighted with Max Maven's article.
Another favourite of mine from the pre-Kaufman "Genii" was Pete Biro's 'Reel Works' column. Pete's columns were always informative, stimulating, and entertaining.
