The Johnson Hopping Half instructions mention "The Sun & Moon routine described in Bobo's Modern Coin Magic can be performed using this coin". I don't see Sun & Moon in the index. Can someone please tell me what page this is on?

Johnson/Bobo Sun and Moon Routine
Re: Johnson/Bobo Sun and Moon Routine
Here's an index on-line. It will let you search for things like, "Sun and Moon".

There is more than one edition of Bobo's book. The link shows Albert Goshman's Sun and Moon on page 440.

Re: Johnson/Bobo Sun and Moon Routine
I only have
Bobo, J.B., Modern Coin Magic (not "The New")
Are there any other book resources for routines of the Sun and Moon coin which came with Johnson Hopping Half.
Thanks

The new one is on Amazon for 18 bucks.
David Neighbors has an infinite number of routines with this coin. He can be reached via:

IMHO Bobo's MCM is one of the books that's worth having around - especially when you are starting a detailed study of magic with coins.
If you look for it - you can find an early application of the sun/moon in Scot's Discoverie of Witchcraft.
IMHO almost any time you have silver and copper coins in play - the gaff has uses. It can assist with appearances (see Blasted!) or vanishes. :D

There is Roger Klause's "Soleil Et Lune," from Richard's Almanac (pg. 155).
SAMOYA by Rob Thompson (he sells a DVD explaining the routine).
Also, Michael Wild published a couple of pdf manuscripts called "Tavern Magic." Volume 2 was devoted to the Sun & Moon coin.

Re: Johnson/Bobo Sun and Moon Routine
SAMOYA and Soleil et Lune cannot be done with a JOHNSON Sun and Moon.
The Johnson Sun and Moon does not use an expanded top shell .
I could say more but not sure if that is epxosure in this forum

Even so, it wouldn't take much to put together what you would need for these routines, and I imagine most coin workers already have what they would need to make this happen.

I like that extension of the Hofzinser routine. It permits a clean display of both sides of the coin in your hand right after the transposition.

Feel free to discuss method here. Roger's trick requires cut-down coins and a regular (not expanded) shell.

Key point is that both the copper silver insert and the half need to fit in the shell to do these effects (and others) as described.

Hmmm... I learned it as described in the Almanac, with an expanded copper shell, a copper/silver coin, and a regular silver coin. Was it written up elsewhere, and is there an advantage (other than the obvious) to the unexpanded shell and cut-down coins?
Re: Johnson/Bobo Sun and Moon Routine
After a performance of Hopping Half, the shells got stuck together in my pocket and I had to send all the coins to Johnson for separation with out charge.
Has anyone else experienced this and any suggestions on how to prevent this issue from happening in the future?
