Folks, I have been informed that the Genii app for the Kindle Fire is now available here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AZM ... ref=mas_dl
Since I don't own one of these units, if any of YOU do, would you please download the app, launch it, download an issue and tell me if you have full functionality (like watching the video).

Re: Genii Kindle Fire App Now Live
Hi Richard,
I loaded up the app and downloaded the January Issue.
The videos kick me out with the following message:
Sorry
the application Genii (process com.genii.genii) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
(Force Close button)
I tried about five times.
The "On The Slant" audio segment worked just fine.
The paging is very responsive and displays great.

Don, thanks. Does Max's audio work as well?
Is there a menu on the bottom that will allow you to access the videos directly? The Android app has the same bug (crashing when you try to hit a video button) but you can access the videos through a menu on the bottom of the page. Let me know if that works.

Since the Kindle's operating system is just a re-skinned version of Android, I would suspect both apps would be near identical (and probably have the same bugs).

If you go into the bottom Menu and choose the audio or video from there - everything works . . . including Max!
Thanks for the App, Richard!

I got it up and running on my Nexus 7. Had the same video issue, however, your fix worked. Except I didn't see titles for the videos in the list to know what they were ...I just kind a clicked on a few aiming where I think they were placed in the mag to get what I wanted. Should they be titled?
This definitely makes it easier than using the web browser in Android to read the online issues. Thanks for getting this done Richard.

Re: Genii Kindle Fire App Now Live
The company who is doing this, and who I'm locked into using via my printer, tends to launch things full of bugs, then lets the users identify the bugs. We had the same problem with the iPad app at the beginning.
It's a terrible way to do business.
I apologize for the stupidity of having an Android app that crashes when you try to watch a video--one of its most basic functions. When I complained to the company about this, their only response was to suggest the same workaround that Don figured out on his own. But I have to tell you that the video files I send them ARE TITLED. And they remove the titles!
They are working on fixing the bug, and now you know as much as I do.

Hey, no problem. I'm happy to have the app. I'll work around the bugs until they are fixed. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Is there a way us user's should notify them that would help?

There is currently no way to let users know other than my writing about it in Genii Speaks, which I will in the March issue.

Re: Genii Kindle Fire App Now Live
The new Genii app is not compatible with the new Kindle Fire. Is this a known issue that will ultimately be resolved?
