Review of Copperfield's flick Terror Train DVD

Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Sometimes I get weird looks from people when I say this but I think this is one of the best slasher movies.

It's beautifully photographed, scary, funny, and decent plot. All that plus Jamie Lee, Ben Johnson and David freakin' Copperfield.

It's good.

I got a free poster from Shout Factory by ordering from them, it may still be available.

Ryan, I like my share of junky horror films more than the next guy, but Terror Train is hard to sit through, so I'm not surprised you get weird looks.

But I bet they're not half as weird as the looks you'll get if you say to someone that you like musical remake of Lost Horizon from the 1970s. THAT gets you the "call-the-men-in-white-coats" look.

Did you see the TV musical version of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"? It starred Kirk Douglas. That was a reach. Although he did not use makeup or prosthetics to make the transformation which was quite good.

Richard,

Yeah, I dunno. I like it. I don't recall who did the cinematography in it but it's really nicely photographed. I enjoy Ben Johnson too. Roger Spottiswood won't even talk about it and hates it.

I've never seen the Lost Horizon musical but it sounds like something I'd find amusing.

I like great cinema, Ford, Hitchcock, Kurosawa and I like Fulci, Bava, Argento and some of the movies Corman produced. It's relative.

Ryan, it sounds like our eclectic tastes somewhat align.

Doug, I have the laser disc of the Kirk Douglas Jekyll and Hyde. All I can say is, Oy. Makes "Saturn 3" look like a masterwork.
