Thanks for doing these podcasts, they're a great way to start the day.

I'm *really* pleased you're enjoying them Tom. They are fun to do. Got some crackers lined up for the next couple of weeks before the Bash.
Hopefully they will make a few of you sitting on the fence about coming realise you really HAVE to come to be part of magic history. And to meet me, of course!
With the low cost flights and really cheap hotel options just a few minutes walk from the venue, you need a really good excuse NOT to come!

See, Oktoberfest is every year. This is a one time shot.
But what do I know? I don't drink beer...

I think Denis may have a point. At Oktoberfest you get loads and loads of tourists dressed in leather shorts, getting so drunk they are sick, and crap music.
At genii bash you get a once In a lifetime assembly of hand picked incredible magicians performing and teaching things you cannot learn elsewhere...
I guess it depends of you are into world class magic, or drunk tourists...
:)

Although that being said, I might get very drunk with kent gunn at genii bash
But I promise I won't wear leather shorts.
I cannot promise kent won't though.

If I am informed correctly, then there are only two ways to get a decent place at the Oktoberfest:
You are either there when the gates open (which is around 9am) or you book a table. To get a table booked, you'll need either a lot of luck, or a booking in previous years. If you miss a year - or if you arrive to late - the table is given to somebody else and you start on square one again.
Add this to the fact that it is really a tradition for many Bavarians to visit Oktoberfest.
Finally, having your own table can make you really popular. One colleague has a standing booking for a table holding some 40 persons. By now there are more than 80 "friends and colleagues" that announced to come.
Best, markus

That's the rumor we want to spread to keep too many tourists from coming... ;-) Your scenario only comes true on a busy Saturday or holiday.
I was joking, of course. The line-up for the Bash sounds fantastic and there's no reason one couldn't have both - the Oktoberfest runs for 16 days.
