Re: Next Book from Steinmeyer
This thread reminded me of a story I read in Steinmeyer's The Complete Jarrett. In late 1927, Jarrett was hired by the producers of the "Dracula" stage play to design a way to vanish Bela Lugosi directly from stage. It was a fairly simple but effective vanish that whisked Lugosi through a trapdoor and left his crumpled cape in the hands of two actors. During a performance one night, the trapdoor jammed and left Lugosi stuck halfway. A quick-witted actor improvised and said "You see, heaven won't have him, and hell doesn't want him!"

Just reading the limited blurb on Amazon, it seems Jim might be blending the factual history, theatrical bombast, and rampant fear that the average man or women might experience in an era when almost anything could kill you quickly, without warning (and likely quite painfully).
That Dracula might actually have been an amalgam of everything that the average man or women might legitimately be terrified of, brought forward by Stoker with a flourish of theatricality mixed with a healthy dose of even MORE things one could be afraid of would be a meaty read.
Jim's books are routinely some of the finest reads available on any subject matter.
