Frederic Jessel lists the anonymous Dick & Fitzgerald version of the subject book in his Bibliography, and attributes it to Joseph Wood. He apparently wasnt aware of the earlier edition, which has Gerritt M. Evans named as the author (ignore, for the moment, that Bart Whaley believes that Evans is a pseudonym for Edward Grandin).
Who is Joseph Wood, that he should be named as such? I cant find any other references to a gambler or card player by that name.
