Discussions of new films, books, television shows, and media indirectly related to magic and magicians. For example, there may be a book on mnemonics or theatrical technique we should know or at least know about.

Depression in Blackpool

Postby El Mystico » August 2nd, 2012, 11:32 am

OK, depression is not a funny topic. Those who may be experiencing it now have my sympathy.

However, i was interested and maybe not surprised to find that Blackpool has the highest level of antidepressant prescription in England.

I'm not surprised by that. It's a grim place with high unemployment.

On the other hand, I found the local folks in the service industry (with the exception of the surly folks behind the counter at the Hilton Blackpool) to be exceptionally nice. The cabbies, waitresses, and so on were all very pleasant--much more so than in winter.
