I believe Patrick Page once said something like this: "In strolling magic every trick must be a closer."
I'm looking for an exact quote and a source. If you know it, please share.

Unrelated, but David Roth used to say, about Ron Wilson's act in the Close-Up Gallery at The Magic Castle, that every trick was a closer.

Closest I found was:

Not specific to strolling magic but:
Wesley James in Enchantments (2004): "...the advice that every effect must be a "closer" have doomed many performers and performances to failure."

Pat Page may have said what Doc Dixon thinks he said. I know that Pat certainly believed that the tricks in your strolling set should be able to be stopped at any point and the audience feel that they had seen some magic. Strolling, and corporate table hopping are prone to any number of interruptions which may prematurely end your performance.
Tricks like the "Nudist Deck" and "Ambitious Card" or "The Linking Rings" can be ended very quickly and the audience feel they have seen a complete trick - once you have gotten into it.
