Since updating to Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), I've been unable to view Genii at Ask Alexander. Each page I try to view, downloads as a separate PDF instead of appearing in its frame in Safari. Thinking this was a Safari glitch, I tried Firefox and it displays "Click here to download plug-in" but when clicked no plug-in is found.
Anyone else experienced this? I've checked all preferences in Safari and Adobe Reader but haven't found any settings seem to have any effect. Regular PDFs display with no problems.

Check the Forum on Ask Alexander. You're not alone, but there's a plug-in you can use to workaround the bizarre problem.

You may want to try using Chrome. I'm using Lion as well and it works perfectly with Chrome.

Dear JMD,
Here is a direct link to the plugin I found and posted on the "Ask Alexander" forum:
http://schubertit.com/pluginpdf/
It isn't as elegant as using Safari directly, but it works.

Re: Ask Alexander on Safari (Mac)
I'm confused about this: I already have THE standard plug-in for Safari on Mac (or for any other browser on any platform): Adobe Reader.
So why can't I just browse from one page to the next via the Ask Alexander portal? I can do that on the iPad iGenii app. But I want to be able to read on my Mac, too.
And...is it possible to download issues, just like many other on-line magazines to which one might subscribe?

You should be able to browse page by page via Ask Alexander, but you cannot download issues via Ask Alexander.
