Can anyone confirm that the Davenport Brothers performed in London in 1862? Any info you might have would be helpful.

Re: The Davenport Brothers
Closest I can find of their whereabouts around that time is ina Sphinx article for February, 1918 which reports they were in Chicago on June 23, 1863.

I wasn't there at the time, being busy with the war raging back at home, so I can't confirm any of this personally.

National Geographic confirms that Kent Gunn was indeed aboard the Hunley in this time period. He later moved on to larger submarines.

Jeff,
Sorry about the Google crack. I knew you knew. I'd call Byron Walker who has the largest research library I know about. He's awfully knowledgable and might be able to pull a title off his teeming shelves and give you the confirmation you're looking for.
Jim,
Civil War . . . Submarines . . . you made the leap. Fifty points to Riser house.

Jeff,
In the Annals of Conjuring Clarke wrote that their first appearance in London was in 1864. They may have been touring the providences before that.
