Thank you for posting that, though I expect it will be removed shortly as have the other youtube clips of his act.

However the clip does absolutely no justice to the experience of seeing him live.

When the video of Cardini's act (from the Ed Sullivan show) was shown on the Paul Daniels TV show in the 1980s, those of us who had never seen him live thought it was the greatest manipulation act we had ever seen and were hugely enthusiastic.

Old timers like Peter Warlock claimed he was only a shadow of what he had been. "You should have seen him when he was really good!"

Am I the only person totally left cold by manipulation acts?

It depends upon the act, doesn't it?

All very skillful I'm sure, however card manipulation turns aren't my cup of tea.

Nor anything to do with parasols.

All a matter of taste I suppose.

No. I just don't care. I'm sure it's really hard and everything, but I just don't care. It's all the same to me.

"My hands look like they are empty, but lo, I am cleverly hiding some cards HAHA!".

It sends me to sleep. I didn't want Yu Ho Jin for more than about 3 minutes.

Meh.

But, of course, we are all different and I utterly and readily honour anyone else's right to enjoy it.

I sympathise with mrgoat's view.
But - I'd add that a lot of magical acts leave me cold, not just manipulation.
And - is the appreciation of a good manipulation act any different from the appreciation of a good juggling act?
And - did you see the Cardini film? Through acting, he took manipulation and made it entertaining, engaging, and magical. IMO.

Yes, OK. Cardini was cool. But as you said, he acted and it was engaging. Everyone else just seems to stand still and produce cards.

Juggling is an interesting comparison. It *is* a display of skill. But I guess most juggling is dull after a couple of minutes too. Exceptions here and there, but on the whole...especially diabalo. :)

The guy seems to have the sleights down.

Now about that format of manipulation act...
I can respect Balinese dancing.
Just odd to see it done by guys fanning cards.

Saw him at Blackpool and he was the talk of the convention.

Somebody mentioned his close up show but I missed that.
