December Genii in the Mail!

Postby Richard Kaufman » November 13th, 2006, 9:07 pm

The December issue of Genii has been mailed and you'll find Harry Houdini on the wrap and S.S. Adams on the cover. There's also a holiday gift, courtesy of S.S.Adams--a vintage set of bullet hole decals from the 1960s for most subscribers and a packet trick (also from the 1960s) for all of the shop copies.
Let me hear from you as they start to arrive!

At this pace, soon we'll be so far ahead we'll be reading about magicians not yet born.

Some things about the good old days I don't miss.

Good job Richard.

Sounds like a great issue, but I haven't received November.

The December issue also features some great material in Magicana, including my new favorite finger-ring-and-rope routine by Brian Nordstrom. Or rather, a finger-ring-and-rope routine by Brian Nordstrom thats become my new favorite... finger-ring-and-rope routine... by Brian Nordstrom...

The December issue (complete with bullet holes :) ) arrived in Seattle this afternoon. The decals are cool, but now I'm curious about the packet trick. What is it?

The packet tricks vary--I think there may be as many as four or five different ones.

Is there a way to tell which trick is in the magazine, for those who want to get them all? Thanks for all the extra stuff that has been coming in the magazine. Ever since cracker jacks stopped giving out the little parachute guys, and all the toys are no longer in ceral boxes I haven't enjoyed opening anything as much as the Genii mag. each month.

Hasn't arrived yet in Vienna, VA, a mere 15 miles from Genii headquarters! (Yes, I know it's not coming from Northwest DC!)

I think I read a few months ago on the Forum that Genii is printed and mailed from Fulton Missouri not from Washington DC.

Yep, that's what I recall.

I usually get it relatively early in the cycle; don't know what's happening this month.

Oddly enough, my father's copy contained a packet trick, not the bullet holes! His packet trick was a re-titled "Wild Card" with five cards instead of seven.
I know that another of the packet tricks included was a version of DeLand's "Phantom Card Trick" retitled "Ridiculous Subtraction."
Anyone else have something else?
Would also like to continue to hear about the dates when the December issue arrives.

Got here today, but it looks like some hooligan used the magazine for target practice at the shooting range.

Oh wait...

Got my copy today (21st of Nov.) here in Sacramento, which is about a week earlier than I normally receive it. I'm really looking forward to reading the S.S. Adams article and the little bullets holes are cool and a much appreciated bonus.

Genii has really been sustaining a high level of quality, which makes my decision to re-up my subscription for another year an easy one.

No December Genii here yet, but the Novemeber never showed up (Yes Richard, I called the office today and got a replacement).

Funny thing is, I went ahead and renewed for 3 years and the 100 by Warlock showed up in a couple days! (I guess that came from you guys and not the distributor).

Wonder why the distributor is having so many issues with delivery? Did they change people too many times, change the database and lose people?

The issues with delivery of the magazine are due entirely to the post office. There is no consistency and there's nothing we can do about it.

If MAGIC magazine had on online Forum like this one, you would see the same discussion of delays in delivery.

The Peter Warlock book is stored and mailed from a book fulfillment warehouse, an entirely different place. It's also sent media mail, which sometimes takes 4 days and other times takes 21 days!

I used to have a real bullet hole in my appartment window (previous tenant from years ago), before the landlord recently replaced the glass. Now I can have it back!

Richard,

I wasn't trying to put the blame on you, I knew where it went. USPS, we'll lose your mail forever.

As after I post, the December Genii does show up in the mailbox. JINX!

I've lost sales due to the USPS. I deliver my software via UPS now. Too much cost though for Genii to do it that way.

But this is an opportunity to bring up how great the November issue was: Excellent!

Showed up in Berkeley today, much quicker than November's (by 3 weeks)

Thanks! Gonna read it tonight. The first thing I look at is your column and then Racherbaumer's.

Last month I really enjoyed Giobbi's part 2 of the 'Great themes, effects etc. in Card Magic', along with Max Maven's corrections to his part 1.

What a great magazine.
