Here's a high profile review of the new book on mathematical magic by Persi Diaconis and Ron Graham:

Thanks, that was a fantastic review. My own appraisal currently runs on Little Egypt Magic . It isn't as erudite, but I throw in a nifty bit of algebra.

'Straight Away' in Trend Setters used Gilbreath but I think involved 2 straights rather than a royal flush

Thanks folks: Yes, Straight Away is what I had in mind. Strong effect but you're right - it forces straights not royal flushes.

No, All Fair Poker is also a strong routine, but it isn't based on the Gilbreath principle. Again, thanks, Xabi and Joe.

The only books I could recommend were written by you anyway
