It can greatly accelerate the innovation cycle in magic - at some considerable cost to the retail/market for product directed at the consumer who is neither a collector nor working pro looking for polished/finished goods. For the hobbyist it's a wonder, for the 'secret monger' it's a nightmare and for folks who need good props and solid advice it might be a quicker method of getting to the right person for the right item.
