Residency advice

For Arundel Festival, I am doing an hour a day residency at a local bar. Never done 10 days in a row before and imagine it will be tough.

Any tips/advice/thoughts?

Not tough, but your repertoire will get a good workout. Make sure you carry some spongeballs and a few other things in your pockets in addition to a deck of cards.

It sure will get a workout.

The other week I had to do two sets at a walkabout gig. I wasn't sure how to track which people had seen which tricks, so I did a set without cards, and a set with.

Are there any other ideas/tips/methods for remembering which groups you've "done" and which effects you've shown them?

If festivals are the same in the UK as they are here in the states I wouldn't worry too much. Even though it's a local bar there will be plenty of traffic and turnover so you probably won't see too many repeat customers, especially if you are only doing an hour a day. That hour will go by fast.

Write the names of your "sets" down on index cards and keep them in your pocket. A quick glance will be all you'll need. If you're paranoid, then cut them down to the size of a playing card and slip them into the cellophane outside the cardcase.

Yes, the bar will get a high turnover of new people, and the hour is in the afternoon which will be the most touristy folk anyhow. So, ok then. I just need to think of it as an hour gig. Not ten hour gigs.

... and there won't be as many drunks in the afternoon as in the evening, which makes things easier.
