It is interesting to see the evolution of card trimmers as they were refined over the years. Features that individual trimmers have or lack can help with dating them. This is an interesting example that I had not seen before.

My card trimmer seems to be like the Mason trimmer in your link. So I am curious to know how the card trimmer is an interesting example that you haven't seen before.(?)

Yours appears to be a copy of a Mason trimmer. The square corner on the slot is interesting as most commercial builders would have done it differently.

If there is enough interest in this, I'll add more pics. I have one of a later model Mason, Will& Fink, etc.

I do not want to put time into it unless people care.

Could it be the other way around as well? I mean, that Mason copied from this design? You probably know this better than most.

I have updated and added to the trimmer comparison web page but can not upload everything until this evening.

We still need years of operation and locations for the makers of such tools. Does anyone know this stuff?

Jim, I never made card trimmers but have worked on several for friends. These mostly needed missing parts made.

The trimmer images shown here are from various auctions. This is a very limited selection of my collection of trimmer images sold over the years but enough to illustrate the possibilities of using various features to roughly date such items.

I only own the set which allows all of the precise adjustments. It's the one with the adjustable scissors tip. The corner rounder I own is the one with the beveled brass guides.

Most of what I seem to collect resembles 2000+ pound machinery and tooling for it! I only wanted one nice trimmer set for modifying cards for special effects. But I do like to see even tiny variations in the designs made over the years.

Do any of you have info on the relationship between the Graham and Mason companies? It is my understanding that Graham supplied unstamped items to Mason. Mason would later stamp these items with the Mason stamp. Can anyone verify/document this rumor?

Thank you for all the info and the effort you put into it.

To my knowledge, Graham supplied unmarked trimmers to both Mason and K.C. Card Co. ... Although design have later been copied, there is nothing like seeing and using the products of Graham (In my opinion)! The Will & Finck will always be in a catagory for itself in my book though...

I am curious to know if anyone has heard about the new trimmer by Porper..? it is supposed to be something entirely new, and I would like to get my hands on one of them... Although I suppose they will cost in the range of 4,500-5,000 USD, so I need some info before purchasing.... I was just curious if anyone knew anything about this?
