Harry Lorayne's Classic Collection Vol. 3

I guess it's no secret that I'm a big Harry Lorayne fan. Well, we are also friends. I first "met" Harry through his writings circa 1977. I started with The Magic Book (1977) and Close-up Card Magic (1962) and then spent 1977 to 1979 purchasing everything of his to date ('79). The first "new" book I purchased direct from Harry was Quantum Leaps; and that's the first title/chapter of his 3rd and final volume of the "classic" series. Quantum Leaps has always been my favourite Lorayne book. Anyway...

Yesterday, the "plop" through my letterbox happened. Vol. 3 arrived. Although I "know" all of the material (I've read - and tried - everything many, many times), it's a joy to have the books updated and so forth. Even if you have the originals, I highly recommend you buy the "classic" series simply cos there is much "new". In fact, there is too much good material to list here. But, if you like (like I do) regular deck "workers" - look no furthur!

To paraphrase my own comments (which Harry used on the dust-jacket), "Harry is THE best!"

Richard, and a few others - haven't been able to get your copy to the Post Office because of the damn weather. (I did manage to get hundreds into the mail in between the damn snow storms.)Bear with me - I'll try to get them into the mail this coming week, if we don't have another damn snow storm (I'm getting too old for this sh*t!). Of course, eventually, I'll get 'em to the Post Office. I'm hoping you'll find the wait worthwhile. Best - Harry L.

OK I was prepared to wait the regular 4-5 weeks to Mexico but I wasn't considering the snow storms.
If we waited so long for volume 3 .... we can do it a little more and let storm pass. :D

Yes, international post is very very slow. I don't know why but always I have to wait minimum a month to receive packages, books, magazines .....

Richard Kauffman have said Genii electronic version is a great help for foreign subscribers. Yes it is. I keep waiting for my printed February issue, I think tomorrow or Monday I will get it.

A friend of mine received a Christmas card from UK last week!!! 2 months!!!

What I don't understand is that books I airmail to places like Hong Kong, all over Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia, get there much faster - some a week, others 10/14 days.

I've been looking through the Collection and something occurred to me: you did a Linking Ring Parade many years ago on the Faro Shuffle. did any of that ever appear in any of your books?

I think those Faro tricks appeared in Deck-Sterity.

That was 1964!! Actually it wasn't on the faro shuffle specifically, it was 19 routines based on spelling the aces, and sometimes the kings, and the faro shuffle was the main m.o. And, I've used one or two of the routines in different books over the years.

I have the original magazine around somewhere. I remember reading it at the time and thinking it was so advanced there was no way I'd ever be able to do the tricks. It hinted of vast secrets so special only a small inner group were tuned in.
