Great idea. Then again, it was a great idea when Shigeo Fukuda did it back in 1985. (If you're not familiar with Fukuda's work, an Internet search is worth doing.)

How many ovalteen boxes before I can send in for my Townsend decoder ring. I honestly have no idea what you are saying or what you want.

It's not hard. He's looking for a reference to something that was mentioned here, but for which no reference was given. Seeing as there's only one such item here, a quick Google search turned up the following:

M. C. Escher waterfall optical illusion in real life (Check out the second video, Jon)
Books and Magazines for sale -- more than 200 items (Last updated January 10th, 2014. Link goes to public Google Doc.)

Some of us, as far back as jr high school, were taught to cite sources for information.

I get tired of reading about how at one time the number five existed between the numbers eight and nine, apparently before the discovery of zero forced an adjustment. How about we leave that stuff to real writers - and you can check out Greg Egan's "Dark Integers" for some fun about what happens when a thing is proved. Very much related to both notions of "dust" I posted about earlier and all related to both magic and respectable scholarship.

edit: Thanks Jim, I missed it when searching via Google.

'does anyone have a link to the Fukuda sculpture?"

Was that so hard?

If you clicked on the Fukuda link I posted you would have seen it there, too.

Your follow up post is still impenetrable.

This story is new to me. Can you provide a link or source?

You remember the joke about why six is afraid of seven. :)

No Brad, that would miss my point entirely. In the Egan stories about Dark Integers proving things has side effects.

The Fukuda sculpture in action is impressive. Kudos.

BTW there were some water/garden pieces using glass and pumps to have it appear that wager was running up inclines. Not directly Escher though the technology might be applicable. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3046791.stm
