Richiardi Jr. on film 1955

Postby Tom Stone » February 11th, 2011, 7:18 pm

The National Library of Sweden , in collaboration with Svenska Filminstitutet, have begun to transfer film (from late 1800's and forward) to digital format, and have released it for free viewing. They opened a site for it a few days ago.

I found a clip with Richiardi Jr. from 1956 that (according to Christer Nilsson at Sveriges Magiarkiv) was shot at the "China-Varietn", Stockholm, in June 1955.
The clip is here: http://filmarkivet.se/sv/Film/?movieid=340
(I hope there's no national limitation to this.)

He was the best.

So far as I'm aware, there are not many recordings of his work from this early, so this is much appreciated. It's a pity they opted to edit out the best moment of the hoop pass, but such is the nature of timing on film/video as opposed to real life.

Fantastic!
What's the mad science stuff that's going on after Richiardi?

Best not to ask.

I hope they will continue publishing these old journals. I know they, somewhere, have a clip of Cardini from 1938.
