IGenii Technical Help

Postby SwanJr » December 10th, 2010, 10:43 am

I am a new subscriber to Genii, and I'm trying to look up Tony Giorgio's columns online. I've been looking for some sort of access to technical help, because I can't see the old issues online for lack of a plugin. When I click the download plug in here icon, it only says the suitable plug in is not available. It doesn't tell me what I need. I'm surprised, because I have Adobe Reader.

If you have any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

Swan Jr

Thanks, Richard and Joe, for coming to my rescue. Joe, your question was enough to make me realize the problem was probably with Firefox, and indeed it was though they buried the fact they don't support Adobe Reader without a special plugin very deep considering how popular the Reader is.

With Firefox, this plug in:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7518/

will make iGenii work for future readers who have my problem.

Thanks again,
Happy Holidays,

Swan Jr,
a happy subscriber

Me, too. And it must have worked for you, Mr. Widdle, since you were able to log in and post that message. Usually when we hear about those types of problems, it's due to people either not remembering their password or incorrectly typing, and so on.

yeah, neither Firefox nor Safari will recognize my login info. After I try twice, it tells me I can't try again for 5 minutes.

I'm talking about Ask Alexander. I set my browser to remember my login info, which was working fine, and now it's not.

Still wont let me log in even though I know I'm using the correct login info. I think I've been locked out, because before I realized I had a browser set to remember my login info, I was trying different PWs on another browser.

I emailed librarian@conjuringarts.org for help. Is that the way to go, Richard?

I believe I was locked out (even after the 5 minute penalty) because I tried too many times with the wrong login info. Password reset fixed all. Don't go looking for a moral here :)

I'm a subscriber and able to log in and view past issues, but can't see the current issue.

When I click on the Jan. 2011 link, I'm asked to sign in with my Login and Password (and a "Coupon/Token" which I don't have). When I enter my information, I get a message saying the information is incorrect. I assume this is due to the fact I don't have a coupon/token... is that needed?

Richard, it's happening today (first time I've tried to see the current issue).

I just tried it again while logged in to Ask Alexander, and once again got that message saying the login information is incorrect... I enter my login and password (which I know are correct, since I'm logged in to Ask Alexander), and no luck.

Not a huge deal, since I already received the physical issue, but it would be nice to have online access to it as well.

Is there a way to rewind or fast forward the audio?

Bob, no. Frankly the audio controls suck because they are practically non-existant. There is a pause/play button that appears on the right side of the screen, and that's about it. I'm not pleased with this software, but it's all we have available to us at the moment through the company we're using. I'm particuarly unhappy with the fact that there's no volume control! It's just stupid.

The video, on the other hand, has a scroll line at the bottom so you can move around, as well as a volume control.

I think it's quite easy to turn an audio into a video. Could that be a short term solution?

Hi
Today is my first day with iGenii and I have a couple of questions for the experts
1 would it be possible to print the pages of the magazine?
2 when I login with my pc (xp and adobe X) I have no problems with the last issue posted and with the last 3 posted in the archives but when I go to the old issues (browse-genii-issue etc) it appears only the first page
If I enter with my samsung tab, ok for the last issue but for the old one it appears only a blank page.
Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance/Fabio

To answer your questions:

1. No, you cannot print the pages.

2. The older issues are single page pdfs and you have to use the yellow arrow buttons on the upper right to turn the pages one at a time. Or you can enter a page number in the white box between the arrows. Shortly the volumes will be broken into issues for easier browsing.

3. Not sure what your third question is, however I believe you need to update your Adobe Reader to the latest version or you have a pop-up blocker on.
